Transhuman Cephalopod Training with artist Miriam Simun
Transhuman Cephalopod Evolution Training led by Miriam Simun, research-based artist investigating the implications of socio-technical and environmental change. In this episode, she leads us through exercises focused on building cephalopod traits for human evolution. “Using the cephalopod rather than the machine as the model for the future of the human, the work embraces the capacities residing in the biological human body and the pleasures rooted in bodily labors; explores the possibilities for mythological, embodied and indigenous knowledge for the project of innovation; and embraces training as a technology is rooted in practice, development of internal abilities, and equity in access.” The transhuman training is a “PSYCHO- PHYSICAL training regimen for human evolution in the face of rapid ecological and technological change. A series of exercises train new sensitivities and capabilities within the existing human biological system, based on the role-model-organism of the cephalopod.”
